Someone in Baltimore defended Art Modell on a Cleveland site!

Give it a rest small-minded Cleveland fans … Art was, and is, a great man who deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.
Forget your pettiness for a minute and look back at all of the innovations he brought to the game (football doubleheaders, tons of special promotional nights, etc.).
He also was largely responsible for revenue sharing which helps small market teams like the Browns continue to exist. He also brought Jim Brown to Cleveland and creatively figured out how to bring in Bernie Kosar through the supplemental draft.
During Art’s tenure, the Browns made the post season 17 times, won 11 division titles and a league championship. How have they fared since Art left? He also brought a Super Bowl Championship to Baltimore. Maybe he knows what he’s doing after all.
I think the reason so many of you blue-collar Clevelanders hate Art is that he was a Republican and proud of it. So cut him some slack and a little forgiveness and realize that he was the best owner Cleveland ever had.
My response: I certainly appreciate your thoughtful comments on this hometown issue. I have suggestion, c’mon over to Cleveland, we will trot down to the neighborhood pub where we have sweated, swore and loved these Browns and we can have a really delightful conversation. I know my fellow Clevelanders will treat you with the courtesy and respect you deserve… no worries, The Cleveland Clinic is excellent, just don’t tell the attending physician you were defending the former owner of OUR Cleveland Browns.
Why don’t you fight to get your colts back, oh that’s right, couldn’t summon the gumption to get that done.
Enjoy Baltimore, we have our Cleveland. Now get off our board!
