A New Cleveland-Based Blog

By Paul | March 9, 2008

This blog began as a labor in love from me to Cleveland. Several months ago I was living in Dallas Texas with my partner. I owned a nice condominium, worked for a great company that provided research equipment to universities, and enjoyed more sun in a month than we see in a year. Jobs in Dallas are plentiful, prices are low, and there is no state income tax; I had a lot of reasons to stay there.

But there seem to be two types of people who come out of Cleveland. Some can take it or leave it. For them it’s just another city. But there are those of us for whom this place gets under our skin and becomes part of us. In many ways it makes no sense.

There are a lot of great things about Cleveland but they are not all that unique. Other cities have symphonies, baseball, football, great museums, and universities. But somehow ours seem special.

So while in Dallas I started this site because I was quite homesick and then, unexpectedly, had an opportunity to come home and the site languished while I worked and moved and flew a lot.

Now I am back in Cleveland and have bought a house within the city. I want this site to be a part of the renaissance we are seeing in Cleveland. Cool Cleveland and a host of other Cleveland media are already driving it and I think it is exciting.

This site is Cleveland-centric and its writing will reflect that. I am writing and hosting this for free and will see how the site evolves. We will see what can be built in a PerfectClevelandDay.
